COMPANY PROFILE
The project of producing high quality craft beer came to life in the 2013 and in a few years it has become a concrete reality where tradition meets modernity; the genuineness of raw materials together with the highest standards of innovative production. The malts used derive from the barley exclusively cultivated by the family farm allowing the Flea brewery to connect all its production to an important and transparent peculiar characteristic: the short food supply chain starting just from the barley up to the pure and precious water flowing from the worldwide known springs of Gualdo Tadino. In the production of every different type of beer we use barley and wheat malts without any process of filtration and pasteurization. The beers are fermented in bottles with the aim of preserving at most their original organoleptic characteristics, without adding any preservatives and chemical additives. Our barley has its roots in a very ancient story. Emperor Frederick II visited Gualdo Tadino around 1242, destroyed after a terrible fire. Touched by the fate of the town, the Emperor built the new city walls, of which he personally laid the first stone of the renovated “Flea Castel”. Furthermore, “he rode his horse around this land, and sowed with his own hands wheat, barley, spelt, broad beans, millet and other oils”. (Chronicon) Nowadays, Birra Artigianale Flea originates from the well-known waters of Gualdo Tadino and the seeds sown by Emperor Frederick II many centuries ago.
