COMPANY PROFILE
The Mottura winery was founded by Pasquale Mottura in 1927 in Tuglie, in the province of Lecce, and has been handed down from generation to generation of the family ever since. By the forties Mottura had become one of the most important wineries in the Salento wine-making region. Since the fifties it has been making wine for export and for sale all over Italy, particularly in Puglia, Campania and Lombardy. The company is now managed by Antonio Mottura and his niece, Barbara Mottura, bringing the new ideas and enthusiasm that are the vital lymph of this young, modern company. The new generation of the Mottura family has brought an innovative, highly professional strategy to the company, aiming to make this Italian leader into a leading exporter all over the world. Already successfully launched on major international markets such as China, Germany, Great Britain, and the United States, Mottura wines will soon be known for their prestige and quality all over Europe, and beyond.

The estate
Mottura wines come from 150 hectares of vineyards in the terroir that gives rise to Puglia’s Doc wines: Salice Salentino, Squinzano, Cellino San Marco and Campi Salentina. Local grape varietals such as Primitivo and Negroamaro are grown in these places of ancient tradition. The Salento peninsula is a truly unique place, with a truly unique style: the Mottura style, combining tradition, experience and innovation, focusing right from the beginning on the authenticity and traditional character of the local grape varietals and on protecting the features that make the wines of the Salento area unique.

Quality, prestige and innovation
Mottura’s vineyards are managed by a team of agronomists on the basis of technical production regulations guaranteeing integrated vineyard management, outstanding quality standards and complete traceability. Mottura has also obtained certification from SQNPI – Italy’s national integrated production quality system – confirming that no products are used in the vineyard that could constitute a health risk, strictly limiting use of synthetic pesticides.

Philosophy
Mottura has worked toward achieving an ambitious programme with high goals for quality right from the start, focusing on native varietals such as Primitivo and Negroamaro in the conviction of their expressive power and maintaining ancient traditional production processes such as those used to make rosé.

The company’s policy is directed toward:
· constant commitment to improving the quality of production processes
· a strategy of maintaining a good price to quality ratio
· a special focus on environmental impact and the demands of the market.
